A Coffee and Some Fun Friday

My iMac is still being looked after by the fine folks at iWorld (our local official Apple reseller). It turns out the kernel panic is an intermittent problem and as such, it’s taking them some time to isolate the problem.

Feel free to express your sympathy for me in my iMac-less state via the gifting of the recently-returned pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks. (I get them extra hot, half sweet, no whip. A tall or a grande would be lovely.) (And I just discovered I cut the calories in half on a grande by going ‘no whip’! Whoot!)

But enough about my minor technological woes (and lattes).

I have encountered some fun things on the internet this week, and the fun is doubled, I think, when it is shared. So here goes:

  1. Sammy Adebiyi talks about how irresistible a smiling Jesus is, capping things off with a reference to The Sound of Music. Trust me — it’s made of win.
  2. Jamie at Jamie’s Rabbits made me laugh again this week (no surprise there). I love how fearlessly she puts herself “out there” on her blog, paper Etsy gloves and all.
  3. Think Geek continues to sell awesome products, particularly for Doctor Who fans. Their latest Gadget of Awesome is a Sonic Screwdriver Programmable TV Remote. It’s almost as cool as a Timey-Wimey Detector.
  4. You either own a dog or know someone who owns a dog. No matter the scenario, you must visit the Tumblr site Dog Shaming. You’re welcome.
  5. Let me be clear: I am not at all a fan of the Twilight franchise. I won’t think less of you if you are, but I’m so not going there. I did, however, get a kick out of this video by You Tube’s Bad Lip-Reading that Knox McCoy shared on his blog this week:

What has tickled your funny bone this week?

Surely I’ve told you my secret for cutting costs at Starbucks? Cuz those Pumpkin Spice Lattes (and we know how fond I am of them…HEAVEN. IN. A. CUP!!!) are mighty pricy! I give you….The Pumpkin Spice Americano WITH ROOM. They knock $1.50 off the price, and you walk over to the bar where they have the cream and sugar and add your own cream or milk. BOOM. I never order lattes (or mochas) anymore. Always an Americano with whatever flavor I want (they can likewise add the mocha chocolate or white chocolate to an Americano) AND ROOM. That part is key. 😉 (It was actually a Starbucks Barista who tipped me off to this little trick!)

Oh and if you like iced drinks in the summer, just ask for the shots of espresso over ice, with whatever flavor you like. So, if you normally get a grande, that’s 3 shots, so a Triple Espresso over ice (with Toffee Nut, for me!! mmmmm) (this is slightly cheaper yet, than an iced Americano). Oh, and I ask for my triple espresso over ice to be in a Venti Cup. No need to ask for room, because they don’t add anything to it other than the coffee and the ice (and the syrup). Add your cream or milk and you have yourself an iced latte for about $2.50.

Indeedily, I believe you did just that! As you can tell, I needed the reminder. I’ll have to try that this week!

Thanks for the shout out, Michelle!
