A Coffee and Some Dream Recovery Friday

A Coffee and Some Dream Recovery Friday

Photo Credit: RichardBH ©2012 (Flickr via Creative Commons) I’ve been struggling with dreams (and goals) lately. Come to think of it, it’s a fairly regular occurrence for me at this time of year. Many have been the years where June is drawing to a close and I find myself looking at all I have not done in the first six months of the year and hope to cram into the six that are left on the calendar. (January is always the “reboot” month, saving me from too much self-reproach and the like. Whew!)

But this year, I find myself looking to end, at last, this particular “rinse, repeat” cycle because it is a tiring one. So it’s interesting that I took particular note of the following two sections of song lyrics this week:

“From underneath the rubble sing a rebel song.” ~Every Teardrop is a Waterfall by Coldplay

“I’ll tell you once more before I get off the floor, ‘Don’t bring me down.’” ~Don’t Bring Me Down by Electric Light Orchestra

Both speak to me of people who are down, but are refusing to stay there or to wallow in their current circumstances. “Don’t count me out,” each one seems to be saying. “I am getting back up. Just you watch.”

So I, too, need to get back up and get back into the proverbial saddle. And while that may sound and look easey-peasey to some, I do have a bit of rubble to get through. But it’s not insurmountable. (Now to remember that when I get tired/worn out/stressed/overwhelmed. Aye, there’s the rub . . .*)

By the way, here’s another song I’ve been listening to a lot in recent days:

Happy Friday! :-)

*Yes, I went all "literary". Yo.
