A Coffee and Some Fluff Friday
Have you ever taken an aptitude test? Or had to list your strengths/talents? I’ve never liked such things. Maybe it’s due to my ongoing “learning what it actually means to be humble” process. Plus I’m pretty stellar at downplaying what I am good at, or at simply saying I’m not really good at anything at all. It brings to mind a comment I heard recently from a co-worker: “I do cool things by association. By myself, I’m boring.” I feel like I’m talented or good at things because the people I associate with are good at them. On my own, I’m a no-talent hack. Or so I sometimes feel when tired, a bit stressed by other things, and fighting a bit of a head cold. Maybe it is a good thing I haven’t posted much here this week … (Though I am working on an idea rolling around in my head about little Christs and bridges versus platforms.)
But thankfully I made some fun/interesting discoveries this week to share with you here, which I hope you enjoy:
- Want to broaden your vocabulary? Then take a look at 56 Delightful Victorian Slang Terms You Should Be Using which was compiled by Erin McCarthy for Mental Floss. It’s nanty narking, y’all.
- If you have never viewed any film in the Star Wars franchise, you may not fully appreciate these photographs by Zahir Batin. Or maybe you will, because they are chock-full of whimsy.
- The first days of spring here have been far grayer than I would prefer, but Songza’s Walking on Sunshine playlist has helped brighten things up while I’m work or at home tinkering with, say, a blog post.
And I’ve spent the last half an hour looking for a fourth item, but I really need to get cracking with a couple of other things. So happy Friday, all! And thanks for reading!
