A Coffee and Some Further Finds Friday
If there is one thing I have been reminded of these past couple of weeks, it's that things don't "get back to normal". Rather, you move into a "new" normal. And one more thing: Being able to have even a few minutes to sip from a hot cup of coffee while letting my mind meander is good for my soul. When there weren't "new normals" to be found or rabbit trails to be briefly chased, there was a mix of things to discover via the World Wide Web which have by turns encouraged, amazed, and inspired me. (I also have a bit of good news to share.)
1. Encourage: If I had a dollar for every time I wondered whether or not I was in God's will, the hubs and I would probably be making a lot more coffee runs if not hire a live-in barista. So this blog post from Sammy Adeyibi hit a lot of nails on the head for me.
2. Amaze: If you've ever been to Sea World or watched National Geographic, you know seals can be pretty awesome in the balance department. It turns out in their natural habitat such a skill set has helped at least one seal live another day.
3. Inspire: It's no secret I enjoy the writings of Jon Acuff whether of the blog, book, Facebook status, or Twitter variety. So it was with genuine excitement that I discovered his blogging hiatus was coming to an end this past Monday and was promptly given a big shot of inspiration in terms of starting over and being brave.
And now for the bit of good news – I’m in a book, y’all! I took the plunge and wrote a piece that is a part of Not Afraid: Stories of Confronting Fear. You can read more about it (and order a copy) here. (I’m eagerly awaiting my own copy as I type this!)
Oh, and guess who will be returning to North American TV screens via PBS Masterpiece Theatre on January 19, 2014? Here’s a clue:
