A Coffee and Some Highlights Friday
It has been an odd sort of a week in that I have yet to really get my feet back under me after being away last weekend. Actually, that’s a feeling I’ve had for a lot of 2013. I was thinking a bit about it last night, and I was reminded of my husband’s advice to focus on one or two things rather than overwhelming myself with everything. So there you go – I need to quit stressing myself out and just work on something for however long today. Coolcoolcool*.
/end brief ramble
Hey, here’s a true (and embarrassing) story:
On my group’s way back home from YC Alberta in Edmonton on Sunday, we stopped in Red Deer for a bite to eat, electing to eat at Wendy’s/Tim Horton’s (two businesses in the same building, y’all – hence the slash). My sister, nieces, and I really needed to use the restroom and as such, quickly got into line. As I waited for the trio ahead of me to vacate one of the bathroom stalls, the line grew behind me and one woman gave the strong impression of not being above cutting into line ahead of me as she sidled up to stand by the sinks. So when my youngest niece exited a stall, I was oh-so-thankful to be able to quickly snag it. I said a sincere “Bless you, my child” before entering said stall and taking care of business. Upon exiting the stall to wash my hands, the embarrassing part of the story kicked in, for standing in line was a nun in full nun attire.
Yeah, dig me a hole right now. My sister and nieces thought I had seen said nun behind me and that I was being a twit. And I guess I was being a twit, but unknowingly so. Yeah, that was not awkward at all.
Now here are a few things I got a kick out of this week, am looking forward to, and which I hope will stick with me for a long time to come:
1. I get a kick out of looking at old photos of those I know and of myself, to see how styles have changed and to see how we have grown and changed as well. So it was pretty much a no-brainer for me to click on a Bored Panda link sharing early photos of some well-known celebrities.
2. The upcoming movie Kings of Summer does not have the trademark flash and bang of a summer film, but from the trailer it looks like it will have a lot of heart, laughter, and even some whimsy. I hope it has a wide release so I can see it in the theatre. Here is the trailer:
3. It’s no secret to those who know me that I like the writings of Jon Acuff. And his most recent “Serious Wednesday” post is one that I want to really get deep into my heart so I actually do something with it. What are you hoping to have accomplished at The End?
Happy Friday, everyone!
