A Coffee and Some NaNoWriMo Plans Friday
NaNoWriMo starts tomorrow!
I have a title: A.K.A. I have an idea: The story centers on a man who is a pastor, but is also secretly an author writing under a pseudonym. The reason for the subterfuge is due to his (not too far off the mark) belief that his congregation would have issues reconciling a man of the cloth also being an author of science fiction. I have four, maybe five, rough character sketches: No one has a name as of yet, but I have two lead and three supporting characters. I think that’s more than I had last year at this point.
So once the clock strikes midnight tonight and it’s officially November 1st, I’ll sit down – hopefully with named characters – and see where things go in the first 500 words. A few scene ideas have come to mind over the last couple of weeks, and I’m trying to keep things light and fun with this story. It has even been grouped under the Satire/Humour genre on my NaNoWriMo profile page. Soooo … yeah. That’s where things are at the moment.
For something a bit different to round out today’s post: I was listening to CBC Radio 2’s Tempo with Julie Nesrallah when she introduced a classical piece written for the piano but, for a twist, this version was played on a banjo. You guys. It was ah-may-zing. But don’t take my word for it. Give it a listen below. (I may have also found some good writing tunes for November. Yay!)
Happy Friday, everyone!
