A Coffee, Some Tears, and Some Laughter Friday
“I’ve been looking for a word. A big, complicated word, but so sad . . . Alive . . ." “Alive isn’t sad.” “It’s sad when it’s over.” - Doctor Who, “The Doctor’s Wife” (6x04)
My church family said our last good-byes yesterday to a lovely woman who passed away earlier this week. Genuine, heartfelt tributes came from family and friends who found peace in the fact she is no longer suffering even as they now have to continue on without her here with them. It’s hard – no two ways around it. But thankfully, it is a road not being walked alone by her family and friends.
Alive – it is a big and complicated word, isn’t it?
It’s a jumble of happy sadness for the father dying from cancer who walks his daughters down the aisle minus the white dresses and exchanging of vows.
It’s a swirl of anger and compassion in a Starbucks drive-thru.
It can be seen and felt in even a fictional act of kindness.
And it almost bursts at the seams (er, coding?) of a collaborative music video project:
I hope you all have a good Friday! But before you go, please also take a moment to congratulate Julie Shreve on reaching her 200th post milestone at Run With the Big Girls. Way to go, Julie! You rock. :-)
