if only

if only

It’s funny how a snippet of a song can get stuck in your head, on your own personal loop. Sometimes it can be as annoying as all get-out, and other times it’s the perfect mini-soundtrack as you move through your days. I’m definitely in the latter category these last few days in particular with a few lines from the song “Passion Fashion feat. Jon Bellion” by Judah & the Lion:

Then it hit me suddenly

That my coffee lost kick

My coffee lost kick

Being everybody’s cup of tea

There have been several times since first catching those words, when I’ve been struggling to some degree or another with a decision, big or small, that those words have come to mind. It happens most often with the decisions that don’t have me ‘going with the crowd’ (my usual modus operandi), that run risks of failure, of embarrassment, of me being wrong.

But living a super-safe life can be stifling; it can leave one with too many melancholy questions of ‘what if--?’ whose refrain I’d like to hear less often. As such, it’s good for me to have a bouncy little ditty to call to mind when facing particular uncertainties and unknowns if only to help me take the next step forward.

How about you? Are there any songs or ditties that help see you through times or seasons of life? Please share here or on whichever social media link led you here. It’s lovely to hear from you, and to discover new tunes, too.
