In Need of a Plan (and a Finish Line)
I catch myself wishing for more hours in the day, for more time to sit here at this desk, tapping away on this particular keyboard with this particular view out the window in front of me, to write and scheme and dream. It’s all so much easier than getting down to the nitty-gritty, to figuring out what I can move (or toss) in order to write within the current structures, the current time of this life.
But excuses and wisps of fantasies both distract from the work at hand, from stories unfinished needing a final chapter to stories needing a framework – a foundation – upon which to build a world.
It’s time to pack up the excuses. It’s time to let the wisps dissipate into the atmosphere. It’s time to formulate a plan – taking this very real life into account – and heading toward the determined finish line.
