“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” ~Proverbs 27:17 (NLT)
I was at a church conference last week in Tacoma, WA and heard many good things. It was a busy – and a very good – three days. One thing that stood out to me on the first session of the first day was this comment:
“Iron sharpens iron. And iron’s not just found in the church.”
And I mentally went, “Whoa!” Because you know what? It’s true. There are people outside of our church circles who can push us ahead, help us see something in a better light, and think about things we have previously overlooked or simply not seen.
And in that vein, the following clip from The Late Late Show hosted by Craig Ferguson is sharpening me as I realize experience and being clever do not pale in comparison to the quest for all things youthful. Because I’m noticing more wrinkles and grey hairs and finding myself at times boggled by the fact I’m almost 42 years old. As such, I needed the reminder my youthful self was not all that and a bag of chips.
(Now I’m not saying us older folks should look down on or disregard everything those younger than us have to say or to offer. We all have things to learn from each other. But us older folks can get in a real knot about not being young anymore and forget we still have plenty to bring to the table.)
So if you have 3 minutes and 19 seconds, I recommend you check this clip out as Craig Ferguson has some good things to say:
