While I Was Away
Well, hello! I’ve been away for a week and a little bit, haven’t I? I wish I could say it was due to the wibbley-wobbliness of time, but I was simply busy and some things had to be set aside for a bit – namely blogging, most social media, exercising, and housework.
But I tend not to let things slide for any old reason (Well, except maybe exercising . . . and housework.). Here is what I have been up to:
NaNoWriMo: I know, I know – you knew that already. But I did have a lot of ground to cover in terms of word count goals after coming thisclose to throwing in the towel this year. I managed to buckle down once I decided chapters and a chronological story timeline were not imperative for a rough draft, and crossed the finish line in the wee hours of November 27th. Final official word count: 50,517. (I wore my winner T-shirt to work that day – under a nice jacket, of course – and made it through the day with a mix of giddiness and caffeine.)
Work: Things seem to be settling down (or I’m just settling down) in regards to the recent changes at my place of employment. Whew!
Doctor Who: The 50th anniversary special aired on Saturday, November 23rd and my husband and I were able to watch it live with millions of others around the globe. We also watched it the following Monday at our local movie theatre, and it was a really neat experience to be in a room full of fellow Doctor Who fans enjoying the nod to the past, the continuation of present storylines, and the setting up of future directions for the show to go in. The Christmas special is going to be bittersweet, y’all.
Random Bit: I hurt my back this past Thursday. I wish I could say it was due to my doing something awesome, like working on my secret ninja skills or climbing a mountain or training for an epic race. But no – I was sitting in my desk chair at work, moved weird, and ratcheted up the pain in a back that was already a bit sore for no particular reason that day. Things like putting on socks and shoes became challenging (and annoying) endeavours. But, thank God, things were pretty much back (ha!) to normal after a couple of days.
Now I’m looking forward to getting ready for the holidays and working on not only this blog, but on a couple of other writing projects. Because one thing NaNoWriMo is good for (for me) is reminding me I have more time than I think to write. I just need to be willing to use it.
