A Coffee and a Mini-Rant Friday

In the midst of convincing a friend who has only recently bid adieu to the Tenth Doctor on TV’s Doctor Who to give the Eleventh Doctor a chance, I believe I need to be upfront about something: Photo Credit: Scholastica ©2009 (Flickr via Creative Commons)

By the time the regenerative energy began to swirl around the Tenth Doctor I was ready for him to go.

Not that I didn’t enjoy David Tennant’s portrayal of the time-and-space travelling alien from the planet Gallifrey – I did in spades. It was watching him in the episode Smith and Jones that finally pulled me into his madcap world, after all. But . . .

He lamented his impending “demise” for a long time. (The word “demise” deserves the quotation marks. by the way. The Doctor him self has spent much time convincing old friends he is essentially the same man, only with a different face and shuffled personality traits after regenerating.) He had so much to do, he cried as the end drew nigh. He liked his face, regeneration really was like dying, and it wasn’t fair, blah, blah, blah.

Blergh.

You would think someone who had lived for 900+ years would have reconciled himself to the fact a lot of things in life aren’t fair, but one doesn’t have to throw a blow-out pity party bash in the process.

And I have no good spot to wrap this up, so /end rant. ;-)

However, I don’t want to leave things on a grumpy note as we head into the weekend. Thankfully, Olan Rogers decided to put together a short rom-com. It’s fantastic and you should watch it. And, oh look – here it is:
