A Coffee and One More List Friday
TV Show I’m Sad to Has No New Episodes: Face Off – This competition-based reality TV series (on SyFy in the US and Space in Canada) finished up its fourth season earlier this year, and the hubs and I just caught up to it Tuesday night via iTunes. It’s somewhat of a unique program in that it involves some mad-talented special effects makeup artists who, even though they’re competing for top honours, develop a real camaraderie over the course of the season. It is amazing what these people can create and put togeher in a short period of time. And while the makeups may not be to everyone’s taste (some can be ooky-looking), there is no denying their talent, skill, and work ethic.
Song of the Week (and Possibly the Summer): Fine Fine Life by for KING & COUNTRY – One needs to be in the right frame of mind for this song (aka a happy one), but when you are, you may find yourself listening to it more than once. It’s peppy, a bit whimsical, and you may listen to it here.
App I Happily Drain the Phone Battery to Use: Songza – Mega tunes and playlists, all for free. Just make sure you’re using it over a Wi-Fi connection or it will gobble up your data plan. Check it out here (it’s available for use on your computer, iPhone, Android, and Kindle Fire). You’re welcome.
Podcast I Look Forward to Every Week: Golden Moon Buffet Podcast – Or is it simply “Golden Moon Buffet”? Anyhoo – it’s not Chinese food, y’all! It a podcast of pop culture-y fun hosted by Jamie Golden (of Jamie's Rabbits) and Erin Moon (of overall awesomeness (even though she doesn’t like Jane Austen)) that comes out every Wednesday. I could explain it, but it’s sort of like trying to describe, well, a smorgasbord. You just gotta get it in line and see what’s there for yourself. And you can do just that via their blog. You’ll be using “y’all” more often within two episodes. Again, you’re welcome. (But don't click on the link for the new Miley Cyrus song -- as the girls mention in the accompanying podcast, you'll want to take a shower after. Oh, Miley . . .)
The Best Video of the Week: OK Go: An NPR Tiny Desk Concert in 223 Takes – Someone had to move their desk/office from NPR’s old office to their new headquarters. (I’m not terribly familiar with NPR, y’all. Sorry.) Long-ish story short, you should watch this video because it is quite delightful. (And don’t worry – the guys get a breather at around the 2:29 mark.)
Enjoy the weekend, everyone! And thank you for visiting with me this week. :-)
