A Coffee and Some Blessings Friday
As I write this post, I'm stting in a hotel room in Great Falls, Montana, enjoying some time away with some rather wonderful people. And as I was trying to squeeze in last-minute things at home and at work before going away, I realized something: I am so blessed. And not necessarily by virtue of anything I have done.
I happened to be born into a good family. I happen to be in the middle/upper middle class economically. I happen to live in a country where I'm free to practice my faith. I happen to have a good many things.
And I hope I remember often, and that I don't hoard the good things I have.
Speaking of blessings, the following two bloggers blessed me this week:
- Andi Cumbo-Floyd wrote beautifully (as she always does, really) of some exciting changes on her horizon, specifially about her new writing space. This part brightened my soul in the middle of a busy day: "This is the way of life, right? The ebbs and flows of dreams and words. Hard and glorious all in the same moment."
- Shawn Smucker is someone who encourages me to keep writing. (Maybe one day I will weave words together as skillfully as he does.) This week in particular I needed the reminder to not give up because, ". . . the ripples are spreading out from the work you're doing, and the world (contrary to popular belief) is becoming a better place for it."
Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you also have some blessings to spread around.
