A Coffee and Some Good Things Friday
It’s not the easiest to stay informed and stay light, particularly as of late. At least that’s what I’m finding. And while it is tempting to shut one’s self off from the world, it’s also not the wisest. But it is good to find a balance, to know when to step away and take a breath and recalibrate.
Here are a few things helping me to do just that:
1. Rideshare Confessionals (on Facebook)/Ridesharing Confessional (blog articles) – This is a collection of stories from writer Shawn Smucker which he hears as he drives people “… from here to there.” He’s a gifted writer, and there is beauty and humanity to be found in the encounters he shares.
2. Befriend: Create Belonging in an Age of Judgment, Isolation, and Fear by Scott Sauls – I’m not the best at putting myself “out” there to meet new people, to make new friends. But I’m working on putting my insecurities firmly aside, and this book by Scott Sauls is helping me to see beyond, well, me, and to reach out to those around me. Because we all want to be seen and to be known, don’t we?
3. James Veitch giving a TEDtalk on the difficulties he encountered in trying to unsubscribe from a marketing e-mail. We’ve all been there, but have possibly not dealt with our frustrations in quite this way. Have a watch – it is well worth the seven minutes (and change):
What helps you to take a breath when life gets a crazy? Feel free to share! And I hope you have a good Friday. Thanks for reading!
