A Coffee and a Try Not to Panic Friday

A Coffee and a Try Not to Panic Friday

And as everyone gets settled in with new responsibilities and into new roles, I will try not to panic.

Here are three things that will (I hope) help me stay calm (in no particular order before someone goes, “Why didn’t you put such-and-such first?”):

Laughter: That’s a bit source of stress relief right there. I find a daily dose of Dilbert to be beneficial during the workweek, and yesterday’s strip is earning a spot on my corkboard collection at work.

Prayer: I haven’t yet checked out Anne Lamott’s book about prayer – Help, Thanks, Wow: The Three Essential Prayers – but I have and will continue to speak my own variations on those succinct summations over the next stretch to be sure. I’m so glad God is okay with me not being all flowery and eloquent, either. It’s what is in the heart, y’all. You don’t have to compose Him a Shakespearean sonnet. Just talk with Him. It does my spirit and my soul good.

Music & Podcasts: It often helps me to get my mind off of whatever is trying to stress me out by taking some time to listen to or watch something. I’ve been enjoying the following recently (and may have mentioned some of these before):

These are my three favourite podcasts. I may get a little antsy when I get behind with them, so best not let that happen, right? ;-)

I’m not going to link up to musical selections from the artists I’ve been playing more often in recent days, but they’re all pretty easy to find information and/or tracks from via You Tube or Google. Here are the folks trying to wear out my iPod right now: The City Harmonic, The Digital Age, Sarah Bareilles, Family Force 5, Mumford & Sons, Paul Simon, and The Piano Guys. Oh, and Imagine Dragons. Yes, I think that’s it. ;-)

Do you have any de-stressers to add to the list? Either way, I hope you all have a happy Friday! And thank you for reading. :-)
