Image from page 38 of "My flag and my boy, and other war poems" (1918) from Flickr via Wylio it’s easy to talk grace & love & mercy to friends, to loved ones, to “the penitent”

but those who hurt us but those who hurt the ones we love but those who are in some way our enemies A POX ON THEM AND THEIR HOUSEHOLD we all but shout as they’re pushed out of church doors figurative and literal

some applaud these actions with their words others (knowingly or not) with silence

just think if jesus did that if he called us all the names we heap upon others heap upon ourselves words like loser, scum, bastard, whore

yet jesus used words like a balm “woman, where are your accusers” “daughter, your faith has made” “child, you are forgiven” “you are my beloved” “father, forgive them”

and he opened his arms and welcomed us all in not requiring changed hearts then grace it was grace, grace, grace

hearts changed changed other hearts (good news!)

and like simon now peter and saul now paul and sinner now friend we are to go and give of the grace ridiculously and marvelously heaped upon undeserving hearts

give and it shall be given
