A Coffee and Some NaNoWriMo Friday
Basically, all of this month is going to be NaNoWriMo (otherwise known as National Novel Writing Month) flavoured. It’s simply the way things are when one takes on the task of writing 50,000 words in 30 days all in the hopes of having some sort of a story at the end.
I would love to have some deeply insightful point to make here, or some fantastic bit of wisdom to impart, or a snippet of what will be a brilliant story to share with you all. But I don’t have any of that. This year’s project is stumbling right out of the gate. Honestly, I have been worried I’ll wreck my story idea by trying to write it. I’ve been alternately convinced it’s actually a horrible idea, or that I’m the least-qualified person to try to write it, or a mix of a bad idea with a bad writer. So that has been interesting to realize and to start the work of working through while writing the story at the same time.
Yet I keep taking on this challenge along with other challenges in the writing-related realm – things such as blog posts and fan fiction stories and the like. Why? Because I appreciate the power of a good story, be it to teach or challenge or to simply entertain or offer a respite from life’s challenges. And I think I’m not half-bad at sharing such stories myself.
But my NaNoWriMo work beckons, so I must leave things at that for now.
