A Coffee and Some Rabbits Friday

There are many good blogs out there to keep up with and there are only so many hours in the day. But part of building a community is getting to know other people, and in the case of building a blogging community, it involves reading other blogs. Which still involves getting to know people when I think about it as – at least to the best of my knowledge – there are no robot bloggers. One of the blogs I’m now reading is by a delightful young lady from Birmingham, Alabama by the name of Jamie. Her blog, Jamie’s Rabbits, is a collection of her thoughts and experiences in matters of faith, family, pop culture, and a myriad of other things. As she shares in her “About Jamie” page, she chases rabbits – or gets off topic – when she speaks. We need to encourage her to keep following these rabbit trails. Here are five of my favourites:

1. The Post About Being in a Fight With My Gall Bladder – This is the first post I read on Jamie’s blog, and right away the rhythm and tone of her writing clicked with me. You must read to the end for the cherry on top of this piece. It cracks me up each time I read it. 2. The Post About Ladybugs and Why They Should Go and The Post About Ladybugs and Why They Should Go. Really. -- Jamie ends the author bio on her blog with “Hate ladybugs. Love God.” Now what could make a person hate ladybugs? Read these posts to find out (I'm counting them as one post because you need to read both of them). You’ll laugh, you might cry. But you’ll get why Jamie hates ladybugs. 3. The Post About Why a Blackberry and iPhone Can’t Be Friends – I have an iPhone. Many of the people I text regularly have a Blackberry. We have issues. “Viva la iPhone” indeed! 4. The Post About Stephen – I found this post in one of Jamie’s ‘Rabbit Recommends’ posts with the following description: “A lengthy exaltation about my love for Stephen”. It’s about Stephen Colbert. And after reading this post, I fell in love with Jamie and her rabbits a little bit more. 5. The Post About Tornado Disaster in Alabama – Jamie’s not just funny. She also writes about serious things in a serious manner. And does so with a beauty that can't seem to help but peek through even the rubble.

I hope you have fun following Jamie on her rabbit trails!
