Finding My Writerly Place

Finding My Writerly Place

"He who trims himself to suit everyone will soon whittle himself away." ~Raymond Hull* I’m finding myself wondering again where I fit as a blogger/writer/Christian writer/Christian blogger. (And I’m not the only one.)

I still don’t have a “real” niche (other than my life). I’m still working at developing my voice as a writer. I wonder a time or 100 if I’m on the right track.

Then there is the fact that a lot of Christian fiction makes my teeth itch and that most of what I have penned so far in terms of fiction is not spelling out the salvation message or is not explicitly mentioning Bible verses or Jesus, even as I think of all the stories where God’s fingerprints are all over the place even when His name is not.

So I wonder and ponder, and step away from the page for a while.

And then I come back.

For though my stories or blog or life may not look like someone else’s does not mean they are somehow less valid, or correct, or true. I’m not saying there aren’t areas where I need to change, where I need to come into line with God’s will and God’s Word. But why do I think it involves me squishing myself into some sort of a “one size fits all” mold?
