Some Things I'm Looking Forward To
Spring is here! I’m normally not one who longs for the end of winter, but for some reason I am quite eager this year to pack up the heavy coats, toques (even though mine is fantastic), and snow shovels. It’s time for lighter jackets (if one is needed at all), T-shirts, and iced coffee!
Here are some other things I’m looking forward to now that the official change in seasons is checked off the list:
The return of Doctor Who on March 30th: In the 2nd half of season 7, we will be encountering new and old foes while (hopefully) learning more about the Doctor’s new travelling companion Clara Oswin Oswald. Though based on past experience, we will probably walk away with three times the questions before season’s end. (Doctor Who airs on the Space channel in Canada.)
An Easter getaway: My husband and I will be spending a few days away with my side of the family over Easter, and we’re both really looking forward to a change of scenery and a change of pace. We will all, however, be missing my older sister’s daughter, who will be in New Zealand with her high school rugby team. (But oh, the stories we look forward to hearing upon her return!)
Some promising-looking movie sequels: As the saying goes, the proof will be in the pudding, but the trailers for the following films look like we’re in for some epic and fun storytelling:
Starting Madeline L’Engle’s Walking on Water: Reflections on Faith and Art: I have heard good things about this book from fellow writers, so it is definitely next on my “to read” list.
Being able to run outside: Don’t get me wrong – I am very thankful to have a good treadmill in our basement. It has kept my running routine from becoming completely non-existent during the winter months. But now that the sunrise is earlier and the weather will be getting warmer, I’m eager to get back outdoors.
The return of the BBC series Sherlock: Filming began this week on The Empty Hearse – the first episode of the third season. No air date has been set for the new episodes, but it is expected they will air in late 2013 or early 2014 on the BBC with hopes BBC America will be able to (as with season 2) air the episodes concurrently. (North American owners of Apple TV will be rejoicing if the latter happens, as we won’t have to wait for the series to air however many months later on PBS.)
What are you looking forward to this year, near or far?
