Love Makes Room
I've been thinking over the last few days about a struggle we all share at one time or another: the struggle to fit in, to find our place in this big world. But thanks to a piece Alise Wright recently shared at her blog, I've been looking at it from a different angle than what I usually do. Namely, how can I make room around the table for others within my church?
Because it's easy to look at all the ways in which I don't think I fit. But the Christian life isn't about being a navel-gazer or about squishing everyone into the same mold. It is, in part, about looking for ways to serve others. It's about helping others to find a spot at the table, imperfections and all, so they, too, can partake of the wondrous mercy and grace of our Saviour. After all, one of the things Love does is make room.
So it's time I look for more opportunities to do the same. I think in the process I may also better see where I fit. It's a hunch (but a good one, wouldn't you say?).
