On Books

If I haven’t shared this here before (and my apologies if I have), I am a pokey reader. I have a book on my nightstand that has been on the go for a couple of years now; others are lurking about with long-forgotten bookmarks and plot points. And still others have yet to be opened after the initial bookstore browse. So I’ve set a goal. A small goal, mind you, because last year I set a big one and failed rather well at it. This year I am going to read 12 books. However it seems quite a paltry goal after seeing on social media those who plan to read double that or more (I may have spied 100 floating around somewhere …). But as, again, a pokey reader who definitely bit off more than she could chew last year, I felt it best to keep it challenging for me while still having a hope of success.

And I’m not too proud to say a few of the books are carryovers from last year. As in I started them at some point last year and still have to finish them. But I know reading more books will be a good thing for me. It’ll keep me away from the comments sections on various sites and help curtail a tendency to fritter away time when I’m looking to unwind. A good book can do that task just as well, really.

On that note, it’s getting on the late side as I write this post, and it’s time to properly unwind, I think. Though if you’d like to share what sort of a reader you are, I’d enjoy hearing from you!
