I have two sisters. One older and one younger, and I realize in many ways we play our respective birth order roles. My older sister is reliable, conscientious, and very organized. My younger sister is fun loving, very outgoing, and isn’t afraid to be in the spotlight. I am the peacemaker, an introvert, and often wonder where I “fit”. And as sisters, we have been at times playmates, adversaries, strangers, defenders, and confidants. We have a shared history, mutually known shorthand of conversations, and one another’s backs even as we know how to push one another’s buttons. We’re not merely related – we have also truly become friends.
So this Family Day, I say thank you to them both for being a part of my life and for allowing me to be a part of theirs. I love you both.
