Something About Goals ...

Something About Goals ...

The thought of setting goals for next year is wigging me out a bit. I’m not 100% sure as to why, but it is. And sayings like making God laugh by telling Him your plans mixing with snippets of Bible verses about how we ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we’ll so such and such” are not helping me steer my way clear, either. Then there are all the folks who say we all need goals. We need 5 year and 10 year and lifetime plans or else we will Go Nowhere and Do Nothing. They have facts and figures and research to back them up, I know. I’m not saying they’re wrong. But man … sometimes they intimidate me. I see them with their lists and checkmarks and calendars with bullet points and I realize how little I’m doing in comparison; I see how little I still have sorted out about life for a person in their forties. Feeling overwhelmed and inadequate is the long and the short of it, I suppose.

As such, writing-related goals as of late have been kept to writing in my journal, making my way through a book or two, and posting here on a regular basis once again. Anything beyond that and I can’t quite squash the nagging feeling I’d only be setting myself up for failure. Weird, eh? Perhaps it is something I need to sit with for a while, to pick up and turn around in an unhurried fashion over the next week. Maybe see what is found when I’m less anxious for an answer.

On a different note (no pun intended), I’m still enjoying Jon & Valerie Guerra’s album It’s Almost Christmas. I’ve also been looking for songs from the album to be properly uploaded to You Tube as it’s an easy medium in which to share songs here. So I was rather pleased to see the below video show up as it also happens to be one of my favourite tracks from the album. I hope you enjoy it, too!

Merry-almost-Christmas, all!
