The Perks of Social Media
It disconnects people . . . It shortens our attention spans . . . It can bring out the worst in people . . . It does not offer a true representation of who we are . . .
But it’s not all terrible. While there are times I do have to step away from the Wi-Fi connection, there are also benefits to social media.
It’s a way to meet new people with shared likes, interests, and viewpoints . . . It’s a way to meet new people with different likes, interests, and viewpoints and to find the common ground between you . . . It allows introverts to be social in manageable doses . . . It allows extroverts to be social for as long as their hearts desire . . .
The thing is, there are pros to social media. There are also cons. But I’m finding the more I focus on what is good about it, the better I am at avoiding the crappy parts.
Just a short thought. (And not from a deficient attention span – I am simply not often a long-winded person.)
